IO2- A Framework Module for Adult Trainers
This output is aimed at empowering adult educators, particularly those involved in personal and digital development training at adult education centers, to adopt more effective methodologies that incorporate digital innovations. The ultimate goal is to foster improved communication and reintegration processes for adults who have acquired disabilities. The output is structured into three main modules:
Module 1: Digital Skills
This module focuses on enhancing the digital competencies of adult educators through the use of various digital tools in vocational training. The aim is to prepare educators to create accessible and engaging online training content.
- Online Meeting Tools (MS Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, WebEx, Skype): These platforms facilitate virtual meetings and can be used for live training sessions, discussions, and workshops. They are not suitable for highly interactive or hands-on practical training due to the virtual format. Tips include using breakout rooms for small group activities and interactive polls to engage participants. Educators should ensure accessibility features are enabled for the inclusion of people with disabilities.
- Shared Files and Common Workspaces (Google Drive, MS Teams, Dropbox): These tools allow for collaborative document editing and file sharing. They are ideal for project collaboration but may not be suitable for confidential or sensitive information without proper security measures. Tips include organizing files into clear, accessible folders and using version control. Accessibility considerations should include clear naming conventions and structured documents.
- Interactive Content Creation Tools (Canva, PowerPoint, Storyboard, QR-Code creation, Quizzes, Questionnaires, Mentimeter, Digital Storytelling – Video Production): These tools help in creating engaging and interactive training materials, such as visual aids, interactive quizzes, and videos. They are not suited for learners with limited digital literacy without guidance. Tips include using clear, concise language and visuals. When including people with disabilities, ensure content is accessible, e.g., through alt text for images and captions for videos.
- Social Media Marketing: Explores using social media platforms to enhance learning engagement and dissemination of course materials. It is not suitable for formal assessment purposes. Tips include leveraging hashtags for course topics and creating private groups for discussions. Accessibility considerations should involve using descriptive captions for images and videos.
- Safe and Legal Online Practices: Covers media competence, including identifying trustworthy sources. It’s not suitable for in-depth technical training in IT security. Tips include educating about data protection and copyright laws. Trainers should discuss online safety measures and ensure resources are accessible to people with disabilities.
Module 2: Peer Learning (P2P)
This module delves into peer-to-peer learning methodologies, highlighting their benefits in fostering inclusive learning environments. It discusses different peer learning formats, both remotely and in-person, and how they can be organized to include people with disabilities effectively. It also covers the organization’s role in facilitating P2P learning, ethical considerations, and supporting learners in initiating their peer learning groups.
Module 3: In Practice
The final module provides practical training modules focusing on digital and personal skills tailored for inclusive training. It covers a wide range of topics, including accessibility tools, group dynamics with a focus on people with disabilities, communication and active listening, health competencies, stress and resilience management, workplace integration, and IT training. Each topic is designed to support the reintegration of individuals with disabilities into the workforce by enhancing their self-efficacy and job-related skills.
For each digital tool and module, the output emphasizes practical tips, accessibility considerations, and links to tutorials in multiple languages to ensure that adult educators are well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of their learners, especially those with disabilities.
